Filmgate Interactive Film Festival challenges filmmakers and programmers to come together to reimagine and redefine the documentary for the Internet age. Each team should develop a MVP (minimum viable product) which combines software and documentary footage. Each MVP must include a story synopsis, log line, characters, timeline, marketing, and the software tools used/developed.
Example MVPs: specially developed software used as a platform to support a documentary; realization of a specific documentary on the Internet using existing software tools.
Teams can self select but each team must have at least one film industry creator and at least one software programmer. Teams lacking one of them will have one assigned. No team - no problem! We will assign you to a team.
Guidance and suggestions will be provided by the well known Executive Producer Adnaan Wasey of POV Digital (PBS), who will also be one of the judges.
Eligibility
- Each team should have 2-5 members.
- Each team should have at least one programmer and at least one film industry creator (if one is lacking, one will be assigned to that team).

Judging Criteria
-
Impact
Will the idea have real social impact? Will it change how we interact with the documentary? Will it change documentary production and/or consumption? The idea should not be a new technological gloss on an old concept. -
Innovation
Does the idea solve a problem in a never seen before way? In other words, is the project truly innovative and different, or is it a "me too" idea. -
Technical Achievement
Could this project actually work as it stands, or could it be completed quickly? We are not necessarily looking for the most technically accomplished project, but rather a project that reached the highest technical level from the lowest starting point.
